Chattahoochee Hills Farmers Market and Farm Bike Tour

Taproot, Georgia Farmers Market Association (GFMA), and Civil Bikes worked collaboratively with the diverse community members of Chattahoochee Hills to create an event that highlights two of its greatest assets. On May 11, 2019, 9 AM to 12 PM, we will host a farmers market, kids bike rodeo and parade, and farm bike tour.
All events will either be located or begin and end at the Chattahoochee Hills Charter School.
Farmers Market
GFMA will be hosting its first Just Food Pop Up Market of the 2019 season from 9am – 12 pm. Just Food Markets link local small to mid-scale farmers to insecure communities seeking reliable, consistent access to fresh, high-quality produce. Families will be able to pre-purchase and reserve a “share” of produce prior to the market. Each share consists of a variety of 10 items of local produce. There will be a limited number of shares available on market day, so pre-purchase of shares is strongly encouraged. Prices vary between $6 and $40, depending on income, based on a sliding scale. All families receive the same amount of produce, regardless of what is paid. Shares are not reserved until payment has been processed. Please contact admin@mygeorgiamarket.org to process payment for your share.
A blacksmith demo will be conducted by Smithworks Iron & Design.
A storyboard will be set up to collect local history and stories- come and share yours with us!
Kids Bike Event
A kids bike rodeo will begin at 9:30 AM for ages 6-14 years of age. This will equip those who participate with basic bicycle safety skills. Each participant are required to bring a bicycle. After the bike rodeo where there are 6-8 stations of skill building, each participant will ride the bike parade on a trail that circles the school’s campus. Lots of fun!
Farm Bike Tour
The Farm Bike Tour will take place leaving from Chattahoochee Hills Charter School by 9:30 and will return by Noon. You will need to arrive about 15 minutes early to sign a waiver. The route will travel a circuit of about 11.5 miles. On the route we will stop at Wilkerson Mill Plant Nursery, Worth it Farm, and Hard Way Farm. At each stop, the host will give a brief discussion about its history and information about their current operations.
