Soil Festival Ride with Food Well Alliance

May 4, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Civil Bikes is an organization that cultivates awareness around our greatest assets- history and culture that is contained in the spaces and places in BIPOC communities.  They are our wealth!  We designed a ride for community members to access the 2019 Soil Festival!  We will guide riders on a route that will pass through the communities on the Westside including the West End over to the event in Collegetown at Truly Living Well.

We will meet up 11 AM at the West End MARTA station and leave by 11:30 AM.  Folks are welcome to either ride over on their own bicycles or pick-up a FREE Relay Bike Share Bike.  We will review the route, identify ride volunteers who will assist with safety and moving through the city, and go over rules of the road.

Bring your water, a snack if needed, a helmet, and what you need for personal comfort.

We will bike over to The Bakery and Luna Farm where we will meet additional riders who need parking.

From there, we will bike using the Westside Beltline to Truly Living Well for the event, arriving by 1 PM.

Here is more information about the Soil Festival

Food Well Alliance and Truly Living Well invite you to join us for our fifth annual Soil Festival as we continue a tradition of celebrating soil as a key source for building gardens and healthier communities.

Food Well Alliance invites you to the 5th Annual Soil Festival — and it’s bigger and better than ever before! Soil Festival is an annual tradition of celebrating soil as a key source for building gardens and healthier communities. This year, we’re unveiling a brand new Community Compost Learning Lab, the first of its kind in metro Atlanta.

This free event is for all ages and raises awareness of the benefits of using local compost to improve and maintain high quality soil and to grow healthy food. This year, we encourage all attendees to bring kitchen scraps to the event to support the production of healthy soil in Atlanta.

Soil Festival 2019 will be held at Truly Living Well’s Collegetown Farm in Atlanta, and includes a host of exciting opportunities for school gardeners, community gardeners, backyard gardeners, urban farmers, educators, beginning gardeners and children!

Never been to a farm? This festival is for you, too!

This year’s Soil Festival will feature educational workshops on gardening and composting; a children’s corner with fun garden-based activities and story time; a variety of urban agriculture vendors to learn tools of the trade from; a petting zoo; and free bags of compost for your garden.

We will also be providing great tunes and complimentary farm-to-table food and fare. Dig in, meet fellow gardeners, and visit all of the exhibitors who will be sharing resources and tools to help you enjoy the successes of gardening.
